Tournament Rules
& Format

Games
will be played under EMHA, Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada rules.
- All decisions
made by the referees are final.

In
the event that suspensions are warranted due to the infraction imposed
by the referee, the tournament discipline committee will decide
on the duration of the suspension. Any suspensions will be served
during the tournament.

Team
officials and coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players
on and off the ice and will ensure they conduct themselves in a sportsman
like manner.

Coaches,
players and fans that are abusive to officials, players, tournament
organizers or arena staff will be asked to leave the arena.

All
games will be scheduled for two hours and fifteen minutes consisting
of three twenty-minute stop time periods with floods between each
period.

If
one team is ahead by five goals or more a mercy rule will be instituted
and the third period will be running time.

A
team will be awarded the following points during round robin play:
2 point for a win at the end of regulation time or a win in sudden
death overtime
0 points for a loss at the end of regulation
time
1 point for a tie or a loss at the end of overtime

A
five-minute warm up will be allowed before each game. The official
timekeeper will set and run the clock.

Each
team is allowed one-thirty second time out per game.

Each
team will play three round robin games in the tournament.
Round Robin
Overtime Format
-
Three-minute
sudden death overtime will be played under the following format.

The
clock will be set for three minutes and a 3 on 3 will be played for
the duration of the overtime or until a goal is scored. If no goal
is scored at the expiration of time the game will be declared a tie.

Goalies
may be substituted at anytime during the overtime for an extra skater.

If
penalties are assessed (they will be one minute in duration) and the
offending team will be required to play shorthanded, no penalty shots
are awarded (unless stated otherwise in the rules).
Sudden Death
Overtime for the Semi Finals and Finals Format
-
The
clock will be set for five minutes and 4 on 4 will be played, for
the duration of the overtime until a goal is scored. If the score
remains tied at the expiration of time another overtime period will
be play. The clock will be set for five minutes and 3-on-3 will be
played.

If
the game is still tied at the end of the second overtime a shootout
will occur. Each team must give the referee the numbers of five shooter.
If the score remains tied after the shootout a sudden death shootout
will occur.
- Goalies may be substituted
at anytime during the overtime for an extra skater. If penalties are
assessed (they will be one minute in duration) the offending team will
be required to play shorthanded, no penalty shots are awarded (unless
stated in the rules.)
Semi Final
games will be matched as indicated in the program. Total points during
the round robin will determine your teams placing in your pool. The
team with the higher placing in the standings will be home team for
the final game.
If there
is a tie, the tie-breaking format will be as follows in this order:

The higher number will determine the higher place finish
