Letter
from the Fundytus Family
We would like to take this
opportunity to express the most
sincere thank you to the many,
many people who have extended
their well wishes and condolences
to the Fundytus family.
Our family has experienced
the most shocking loss imaginable.
Losing our beloved son and brother
Kyle in such a sudden and tragic
manner can only be described
as devastating. Someday we hope
to find the answers to so many
questions, why him, why now.

Throughout this entire nightmare
though, never could we have
imagined such an outpouring
of support and kindness extended
to our family. We have to first
acknowledge the amazing response
and efforts of the South Side
Athletic Club. To the many individuals
involved within the club who
took charge and cared for our
needs as well as the players
and the coaches, we will be
eternally grateful. Establishing
the Kyle Fundytus Memorial
Scholarship Fund as a tribute
to Kyle's time with the club
is something we are extremely
proud of and will be used to
benefit so many players within
the club for years to come.
To all the SSAC families and
friends. It was overwhelming
to say the least, to see the
ourpouring of support. Your
thoughts, your prayers, your
kindness and your generosity
are something we will never
forget. Too many names to mention
but to all the families and
teams who called or sent cards,
our sincere thanks.
To all the hockey communities
from across the city, the province,
the country and from all around
the world who sent condolences
and well wishes for our family,
thank you so much. To all the
teams who are remembering #11
by wearing either a helmet sticker
or a patch, you are truly incredible
team mates. Keep playing the
game you love and thank you
for remembering Kyle.
To all the families and new
friends who didn't know Kyle
or our family, who took the
time to express well wishes
and condolences to us, we will
be forever grateful.
To the staff at Holy Trinity
High School and St. Clement
Junior High. The tributes and
memorials you arranged for Kyle
at your sites was nothing short
of amazing. All of the teachers
and administrative staff were
very special people in Kyle's
short life and we are forever
grateful for the time you spent
with him. To Kyle's friends
at school. Your thoughts and
prayers and all your tributes
to Kyle will never be forgotten.
Kyle was so fortunate to have
so many incredible friends from
school. Please never stop thinking
of him and continue to high
five each other just like he
would do. You are an amazing
group of friends and students.
Look after each other.
To all the coaches at SSAC
who Kyle had the opportunity
to play for. Thanks to all of
you for your guidance and mentoring
for the four years that Kyle
was with the club. Each of you
left your mark on Kyle and helped
to make him the young man we
were so very proud of.
We want to thank our Don Wheaton
family. For the past two years,
we were so fortunate to be associated
with the greatest group of parents
and the most amazing group of
young men. Kyle had the opportunity
to play the game he loved with
team mates who shared the same
passion. Whether thy played
on Don Wheaton or Lakewood,
there were special bonds amongst
these players. Our family was
never more impressed than when
our Don Wheaton team stood for
their fallen comrade at the
funeral for Kyle. That was the
bravest thing we have ever witnessed.
You are all very special individuals
and we are extremely proud of
each of you. The past two years,
Nathan, Travis, Darwin, Greg
& Brandon, you each had
an influence on Kyle that only
a coach and a player could understand.
Kyle respected and admired each
one of you and his passion for
the game and his zest for life
was something you coaches and
friends had a direct hand in.
Thank you so much.
In closing. Thank You everyone
for your thoughts, your prayers,
your generosity and most of
all, your support. In time,
we hope we can join you in an
arena somwhere but until then,
please stay in touch and remember
'Hug your kids often'.
The Fundytus Family
